Never walk through the living room with loose coals on tongs. A coal carrier keeps the coals together, even when you get held up at the balcony door.

Fresh air and cooling down

Coals give off carbon monoxide. Smoke outside or by an open window, and let used coals cool down in a fireproof dish before you throw them away. A carbon monoxide alarm in your home is no luxury.

Stainless steel or aluminium: what works on a Rotterdam balcony?

On a windy balcony, weight counts. That is why it pays to look at the material of the stem:

Stainless steel: heavy and sturdy

A stainless steel stem is heavier and scratches less easily. That extra weight helps a hookah stay put when it is windy. Stainless steel models usually cost 120 to 180 euros with us.

Aluminium: light and affordable

Aluminium is about three times lighter, often coloured and usually cheaper: 60 to 90 euros. Handy if you move the hookah around a lot; on the balcony, though, put it well out of the wind.

Rust and care

Neither of them rusts. Do not clean stainless steel with bleach and do not put untreated aluminium in the dishwasher. All the differences side by side are in stainless steel or aluminium hookah.

  • The hookah: check the description to see whether a hose and bowl are included.
  • Coals: coconut coals burn long and evenly; quick-light coals are handy if you have no burner.
  • A coal burner and tongs: to light and move coals safely.
  • Foil or an HMD: an HMD lasts for years and is less easily blown empty.
  • A brush: for the stem, because rinsing alone is not enough.

Yes. Choose a model with a wide base, put it out of the wind and keep the coals under an HMD instead of on open foil. Light the coals indoors on a coal burner and carry them outside in a coal carrier.

Which hookah fits in a small apartment?

A model up to 45 centimeters takes up the least space and is easy to store. You find them in the small hookahs. If you want a bit more base, 45 to 65 centimeters is a good middle ground.

Do you also deliver in Rotterdam-Zuid?

Yes. Charlois, Feijenoord and IJsselmonde are simply inside the delivery area, like the rest of the city. Ordered before 18:00 on a working day, your parcel reaches you on Zuid the next working day as well.

Do you deliver a ready-made shisha?

No. We sell hookahs, coals and accessories and send them by post. We do not deliver a filled shisha that is ready to smoke.

Can I send my order back?

Yes. Up to 14 days after receipt you can cancel without giving a reason; after that you have another 14 days to send the product back. Email info@shishasmaak.nl first. You get the order amount back excluding shipping costs, if the product comes back in good condition.
